Thrillaroo Sweepstakes Casino Review
Back in January, SweepsKings posted early assumptions about Thrillaroo’s upcoming launch and what it might mean for players from California and New York. In case you missed it, I discussed what I thought was a promising new sweepstakes casino linked to Funzpoints, but now that Thrillaroo’s soft-launched, there’s a whole new bag of news to unpack.
Thrillaroo doesn’t appear to operate under the sweepstakes model, even though it does utilize a dual currency system with Chill Points and Thrill Points. The biggest difference here is that purchases appear to be necessary, but a free 7-day trial is available if you’d like a taste before spending anything.
The platform is tight-lipped about its providers, but it’s teased a few original games, including Big Sky Keno, which members of Funzpoints may have already played. No other bonuses appear to be available, and instead of classic Gold Coin packages, you’ll get to choose from 3 subscription plans.
The main feature of this new platform is its Win-Win Guarantee. It appears to work like a guaranteed cashback that triggers automatically if your lifetime plays outweigh your lifetime wins during your membership (applies after the membership ends).
Virtually every feature of Thrillaroo is a sharp left turn from everything you’ll find at an average sweepstakes casino, so if you’d like to learn more, I’ll present a few educated guesses based on the latest T&Cs, FAQs, and observations.
Pros
- No need to share card details to subscribe to the free trial
- Free members can make purchases up to $20
- Win Win Guarantee with no apparent restrictions or caps
- Original slots and keno games
- Advertises instant redemptions and purchases
Cons
- Purchase-based subscriptions are necessary after the free trial ends
- No mentions of software providers
- No bonuses yet
- Apparently, Thrill Points must be purchased apart from the membership
Thrillaroo is not something I’d recommend to free-to-play gamers. Even though a 7-day trial is available, you’d be limited to Chill Mode (GC) and would have to spend actual cash to play for prizes. On the other hand, its exclusivity, availability in states where sweepstakes casinos are no longer allowed, and Win-Win Guarantee make it worth checking out if you’re looking for something truly fresh and unique.
Thrillaroo Casino-Style Games
If Thrillaroo has a casino library, it’s not accessible to unregistered players. The site does mention unequivocally that they host slots. In fact, the platform appears to have recently launched a new game called Tako’s Tasty Treasures. I couldn’t find any information about this game and will assume that it’s one of their exclusives or in-house titles.
The screenshot above is displayed under “Games.” It appears to be a fruit slot called Mega Burst Jackpot Hits, but once again, I’m clueless about who made it.
This is where things started to look a bit familiar. If you’re a member of Funzpoints, you may have already played their Big Sky Keno game. Take a look at the betting interface, and you’ll notice that the staking buttons look the same as on Funzpoints – “Total Play” is used instead of GC, SC, or Chill/Thrill Points, keeping everything universal.
I’m not sure whether “explore our unique games” indicates originals or is just a classic form of hype-building. Whichever the case, I can easily imagine that Thrillaroo will keep dishing out exclusives to double down on its subscription-only appeal.
Unlimited Fun Play
While I was checking Thrillaroo’s T&Cs, I noticed that all players who’ve purchased any membership will be “provided with unlimited Chill Points to use in playing the Chill Mode Games,” likely until the membership expires or is renewed. The terms also imply that members can use these CPs “anywhere in the platform where Chill Points are operable.”
This might mean you’ll get to play any advertised gaming categories, such as slots, keno, Mega Pays titles, and other casino-style games, as long as your subscription remains valid.
Will this render social casinos obsolete? Time will tell, but until we see the actual pricing of these subscription plans, I’ll reserve my final verdict on whether unlimited fun play is a groundbreaking innovation or a collection of demos with extra steps.
Thrillaroo Win-Win Guarantee
The biggest point Thrillaroo made during its soft launch is definitely its “Win-Win Guarantee.” The T&Cs are surprisingly blunt about how this works – “No Losses! Thrill Mode Games are at all times subject to the Win Win Guarantee!”.
Clause 3.7 confirms prizes can be won playing with Thrill Points, but what truly grabbed my attention is the bold claim of never being at risk of losing in Thrill Mode. The Win-Win Guarantee appears to be a form of Coinback, which applies only while you’re playing Thrill Mode Games (sweeps).
When I dug deeper, I discovered that the WWG amount formula is as plain as lifetime wins minus lifetime wagers. The Win-Win Guarantee kicks in when your membership expires, and if your lifetime balance is negative, you’ll be eligible for this guarantee (clause 3.72).
Are Purchases Necessary?
From what I’ve gathered, Thrillaroo appears to be a subscription-based gaming platform with a 7-day free trial. The terms explaining how Thrill Points (Sweeps Coins) work clearly say users must fund a gaming wallet. The trial version lets you play in the Chill Mode (the platform’s Gold Coin mode equivalent), access the community hub, and essentially browse.
If you’ve read the FAQs, you may have noticed that the site says you can cash out your winnings even with a free-trial account. However, this is only possible after purchasing Thrill Points with real cash, and with a free account, your spending is capped at $20.
I’ll explain how subscriptions work shortly, but to answer the main question: there’s a free trial, but once it expires, you’ll need to upgrade to a paid membership to keep playing.
What About Bonuses?
Even inexperienced players know that bonuses play an integral part at social casinos with cash prizes. As a platform with a ton of innovative features, well poised to disrupt the markets like NY and CA where sweepstakes gaming isn’t available, Thrillaroo is oddly silent about its promotions.
The only one that’s been confirmed is the 7-day free trial. I wouldn’t equate it with a no deposit bonus since you won’t get any free Thrill Points, but the fact that you’ll get to play Thrillaroo’s games in the Chill Points mode for as long as you want is quite something.
I noticed that a Community Hub is mentioned in the FAQs, and I hope that features like Faucet or TP Rain will be available like on Stake.us.
Thrillaroo Banking – GC Packs Replaced with 3 Subscription Plans
Banking is where things start to get a bit vague on the soft-launched Thrillaroo platform. I discovered that you can choose from 3 subscription options, but I’m not sure whether you need to pay extra to fund your wallet with Thrill Tokens, or if you’ll receive some for free based on your subscription tier. Here’s what the FAQs say.
- 7-day free trial: A one-time freebie that lets you explore the platform. It’s the only plan that limits in-game purchases to $20.
- 7-day paid subscription: A weekly membership costs $29.99.
- 30-day paid subscription: You can get this package for $99.99 (22.2% savings on a per-day basis).
- 3x 30-day bundle: Effectively a 90-day subscription with a price tag of $289.99 (24.8% savings on a per-day basis).
The casino’s footer displays Visa, Mastercard, and American Express logos. You’ll also notice a line saying, “Faster cashouts than an ATM,” which may imply they’re handling redemptions almost instantly.
How Will Redemptions Work at Thrillaroo?
I’ve only seen explicit mentions of redemptions a couple of times in the Terms. Firstly, they say that Chill Points (GCs) are non-transferable and non-redeemable. Secondly, they state that you can redeem your WWG balance (Win-Win Guarantee) if you end the subscription period with more losses than wins.
This innovative yet convoluted and frankly confusing system leaves plenty of room for speculation about cash-prize redemptions. What about Thrill Points, though? They seem to work exactly like Sweeps Coins in the sense that they’re reserved for promotional play, but I’ve seen no explanations about the playthrough requirements.
Additionally, you’re supposed to fund your Thrill Points balance, which directly conflicts with how Sweeps Coins at sweepstakes casinos work (can’t be sold or purchased). My logic tells me that TPs will be more similar to how cash works in real money casinos than Sweeps Coins, but I’ll need to spend at least a couple of weeks on the platform when it goes online before I can confirm this.
Thrillaroo Expected Launch Date
No official Thrillaroo launch date has been revealed, but you can join the waitlist by providing your email after tapping “Try It For Free.” Thrillaroo has been in the works for at least a few months, and given that Funzpoints members were already made aware of this site through promotional emails, I believe we won’t have to wait long before it goes live.
