Money Train 3’s special features are similar to those in the first two games, or its sequel, Money Train 4. However, they can be confusing if you’re new to this slot series, especially given that there are so many of them. I’ll be as straightforward as I can when introducing them.

Money Train 3 is the third slot in a series of games which continues to improve and expand upon its features and graphics with each new release. Launched in 2022, this third entry dials down the Wild West tone found in its predecessor, instead focusing more on Steampunk and futuristic elements with its theme.
Played over five reels and four rows with forty paylines, Money Train 3 is a cheap and affordable game with stakes seldom exceeding 10 SC per spin and prizes capped at a mouth-watering 100,000 SC. Arguably, the highlight of this highly volatile Relax Gaming slot, though, is its bonus features.
Money Train 3 brings a randomly triggered re-spin round into the series but also packs two dozen modifiers into its free spin bonus. Anyone familiar with the sister slots in this series will understand that there’s more to Money Train than simply spinning the reels and hoping to land a win. The slot packs an interactive opening intro, and its features are almost story-like.

About Money Train 3: Game Overview
If you’ve tried your hand at Relax Gaming’s other Money Train slots, you’ll know what to expect here, save for a few new tricks. Everything from the reel and payline structure to the types of bonuses up for grabs is largely similar to what came before it. If you’re not familiar with the series already, I’ll walk you through it.
This third entry moves the action away from the Wild West theme of its predecessor, with the reels set amidst a futuristic, Steampunk-style background. As the game ever so unsubtly showcases at the top of its 5×4 grid, you can win up to 100,000x a bet if you strike it lucky here.
Money Train 3 is surprisingly cheap given you’ve got forty lines straddling the slot’s reels. A minimum bet will cost just 0.10 SC, while even maximum wagers are capped at 10.00 SC. That leaves little wiggle room for high-rollers. Instead, Money Train 3 is better suited to low-rolling players, even though it’s unquestionably a highly volatile slot, with wins few and far between (albeit sizeable).
The gameplay is a little convoluted here, and the surplus of modifiers in the free spin bonus ensures that you’ll need to take the time to peruse the paytable to understand what symbol does what. Of course, these features appeared in Money Train and Money Train 2, so there’s a chance you’ll already be well-versed in them. In this third entry, they are merely more extensive. On the upside, while this is a touch challenging, you’ll hardly grumble at the surplus of ways to bolster your balance while the bonus is in play.
Money Train 3 Information
Playing with forty lines for a minimum stake of 0.10 SC is not to be sniffed at. Even maximum bets are a steal at 10.00 SC a pop. For that, you get to play over a conventional five-reel, four-row interface. Don’t let the dirt-cheap bets blind you, though. Money Train 3 pushes slot volatility to limits, with big wins few and far between, even if the 96.1% RTP (a whisker below that of its predecessor) is at the industry standard level.
Three matching symbols on a payline are enough to score a win here. Those wins can be formed by high playing card symbols (0.20x up to 5x), or the four character symbols (0.50x up to 20x). Wild symbols also help boost your balance, providing cash prizes of 0.80x up to 20x your bet when three to five appear on lines.
Money Train 3 Features
Wilds and Scatters
There’s nothing special about the wilds in Money Train 3. Land three or more of the same symbol to bag cash prizes, while any wild can substitute for all other standard paying symbols.
Scatters appear as money carts (with bonus splashed across them), and three anywhere on the screen are enough to kick-start the Money Cart Bonus Round. Keep an eye out for the gold versions of these icons, known as Persistent symbols, since they can substitute for bonus symbols.
Random Re-Spin Bonus
Who doesn’t love a good randomly triggered bonus? Money Train has long offered these, and the fact that it doesn’t require scatters is a perk. At the end of any spin, the re-spin bonus may kick into gear. Once activated, one of the icons present will be chosen and held as a sticky symbol.
As long as you continue to pocket new instances of this symbol, you’ll keep receiving re-spins. Non-sticky multipliers (1x to 3x) may be added to the reels here. They’ll multiply together to provide tasty wins and can even provide additional re-spins to your tally.
Money Cart Bonus Round
Now, this is where things get complicated (but in a good way). Once triggered by three or more scatters, any symbols that trigger the round will display specific visible values (as a multiplier) and offer three spins. If one or more of these was a Persistent symbol, it comes with an “action” which will be revealed before the reels spin.
During the free spin bonus, once a column has been filled with symbols, a new column will become available, and this can happen twice in the feature. The round is played with up to twelve modifiers, too, each of which has a 1x to 10x value and an “action” to it.
These normal bonus symbols and modifiers include:
Bonus Symbols and Modifiers
- Absorber: All normal non-bonus symbols are removed from the screen on a single spin.
- Collector: Collects all the values displayed on the screen on that spin.
- Collector-Payer: Collects 3-5 symbols, adds their values and pays out on a spin.
- Necromancer: Resurrects 2-7 already used non-persistent bonus symbols and brings them into play during a free spin.
- Sniper: Doubles the values of 3-8 symbols on the screen on a spin.
- Tommy Gun Payer: A value of 5x to 100x is triggered randomly and applied to a random symbol 3-10 times during a single spin.
- Tommy Gun Sniper: One symbol is chosen at random and has its multiplier doubled 2-6 times on a single free spin.
In addition to the modifiers above, you also have Persistent bonus symbols. These work in the same way as their standard Collector, Collector-Payer, Necromancer and Sniper modifier counterparts, but instead of applying to just a single spin, they apply to each spin in the bonus round. There is also one extra symbol which works differently. Here’s what you need to know:
- Persistent Shapeshifter: This turns into different special symbols after every spin. Options include Collector, Collector-Payer, Persistent Sniper, or either of the Tommy Gun Payer and Tommy Gun Sniper symbols.
Bonus Buy Feature
In my experience playing the game, triggering the bonus round is challenging. Rather than simply allowing you to buy into the bonus outright, Relax’s game gives you a veritable shopping catalog to choose from. Purchasable options include:
- Persistent: Triggers the bonus with one persistent symbol and three free spins at a cost of 500x your bet.
- Original: Trigger the bonus as normal with three spins for the cost of 100x your bet.
- 2-Spin: Begin the bonus round with two free spins, and each new symbol will reset the counter to 2 if you’re prepared to fork out 50x your bet.
- 1-Spin: Begin the bonus with one free spin while each new symbol resets the spin counter to 1 if you pay 20x your bet.
Game Specs: RTP & Volatility
Money Train 3 has a basic, industry-standard RTP rate of 96.1%. This means that 0.96 SC of every 1 SC wagered will be put back into a pot for all players to win. Being highly volatile, you shouldn’t expect wins regularly. However, when they pop up, they are worth more than a pretty penny.
200 Spins Test of Money Train 3
With so many features, I had to really invest a lot of time and effort into understanding the new mechanics and how Money Train 3 differs from its other incarnations. Even after familiarizing myself with those newer elements of gameplay, I had one nagging question on my mind – was this slot’s gameplay identical to what came before (and after) it?
It took over 200 spins to answer the question – but the answer is, yes. Starting out with minimum stakes of 0.10 SC, it was a while before any win of merit was achieved. At most, I walked away with 12.50 six dozen spins in. With wagers ramped up to 1.00 SC, it would be another thirty-odd spins before I achieved moderate success again, winning just over 10x the stake.
Hit frequencies of just under 20% don’t help with that. While I was able to trigger the free spins once (naturally), it didn’t amount to a lengthy session, and it was over within half a dozen turns. However, the multipliers kept on coming and the counter was repeatedly reset. In all, the 46x I pocketed there helped replenish my depleted balance, even if I didn’t end up with a tidy profit.
And that’s how it was throughout, really. My balance dipped significantly, only to be recouped with a big win. Having played over 200 spins, starting with a balance of 5,000 SC and ending with 5,021 SC is par for the course for a highly volatile slot.
Our Expert’s Verdict and Ratings
Money Train 3 offers more of the same in terms of gameplay, mechanics, volatility and RTP rates. However, it’s more extensive when it comes to modifiers, and Relax taking the theme in a slightly different direction was a great idea. It ensures that you won’t get bored of the series anytime soon. High rollers may not be overly impressed with the low wagering range. I also recommend taking the time to play the slot for free and study the paytable, as there’s plenty going on.
