Sweepstakes casinos have faced an avalanche of class action lawsuits as disgruntled players sue the sites for ”running an illegal online casino’’ that is marketed as free to use. Major brands like Zula, Sportzino, VGW, and Pulsz have become prime targets, with the latter agreeing to a $3.6 million settlement in April 2024 in Kentucky.
However, the operator of Zula and Sportzino, Blazesoft, has decided enough is enough and is suing two plaintiff law firms, Kind Law and Ben Travis Law. The operator is claiming that the law firms are getting people who have never played at Zula or Sportzino to join the lawsuit.
Blazesoft LTD claims the law firms are only interested in extracting a settlement and are using the costly administrational fees totaling $1.5 million charged by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) as leverage. The fee is so high in part because Kind Law and Ben Travis Law managed to get almost 1,000 players to join the class action lawsuit.
Zula and Sportzino also altered their Terms and Conditions, changing the arbitration from the AAA to the ADR Chambers in Canada and, according to Kind Law and Ben Travis Law, have started bringing legal action against players involved in the lawsuit and are seeking monetary compensation.
The plaintiff law firms claim the new Terms and Conditions are unenforceable and the retaliatory arbitrations invalid. Kind Law and Ben Travis Law are seeking a temporary injunction. We’ll keep you updated on where this legal sweeps casino case goes!
