About Gates of Hades: Game Overview

If you’ve ever played Gates of Olympus, you’ll notice the many similarities quickly, though the darker, hellish visuals of Gates of Hades bring a fresh twist. You’ll encounter Hades himself, Cerberus the three-headed dog, and other fiery elements drawn from Greek mythology.

Mechanically, however, it borrows heavily from Gates of Olympus and its sequels like the Super Scatter variant. The Cluster Pays and Tumble mechanics are there, but Gates of Hades includes a dedicated row at the top where the multipliers pool together for the duration of a Tumble sequence.

In this version, Wilds, rather than standalone multiplier symbols, carry multipliers. Hades activates them when they land, just as Zeus does in Gates of Olympus. The Wilds not only substitute for other symbols but also remain on the board during Tumbles, building their multipliers as long as the sequence continues.

To gain a better understanding of how the game works and whether it’s worth recommending, I played 200 spins on the minimum bet level of 0.20, as I had about 150 credits in my account.

On the very first spin, I had the opportunity to see how multipliers and wilds interact with the Tumble feature. I made three winning combos with a 3x multiplier. However, the combos didn’t connect on the multiplied reel, so I ended up winning less than the cost of the spin.

This scenario repeated multiple times, but I also landed several decent spins throughout the test. Within the first 30 spins, I even landed a 1.08 win as a result of the Tumble feature continuing to make connections as new symbols were introduced from above.

When I was close to my 200th spin, I decided to try the bonus buy option. On the lowest bet setting, the standard bonus buy was only 20 credits, while the Super Free Spins were 100. Since I was down about 15 credits, I opted for the cheaper option. It resulted in a 12.69 payout, so not quite breaking even, but not terrible either.
