Great news: it looks like Crown Rips, Crown Coins’ rip-and-ship Pokémon card collection game is gradually rolling out to more players, with invites being sent out by email.
When we first covered this a couple of weeks ago, only around 500 players had access as part of a beta test, but Crown Coins is now encouraging plenty more members to join in.
So what does this new style of game involve? We have all the details on how it works below.
How Does Crown Rips Work?
We say card collection game – Crown Rips allows you to open up digital packs of Pokémon and sports trading cards with the ability to ship a real version of the card to your address if you like what you find. Alternatively, you can sell them back or store them in your digital vault – the choice is yours!
Just bear in mind that cards can only stay in your vault for 7 days before being automatically sold back at market value.
To begin, players should load up money onto their account, and this is real cash in the form of dollars, so it’s a little different from the dual-currency system of Crown Coins and Sweeps Coins used on the casino games.
Crown Rips feels like a separate area compared to Crown Coins’ social casino – one designed to allow players to join in the current excitement around trading cards. That being said, there is clear overlap with unboxing sites and games of chance.
We focused on the Pokémon card store and found that you should choose which type of pack you want to open first.

As you can see, each pack type comes with a fixed price and a fixed minimum and maximum value for the cards you can pull. We can even choose the pack odds from 3 options, essentially setting the volatility of the pull.
For example, on a Signature Pack you can choose between ‘Normal’, ‘High’, and ‘Max’ volatility. Cranking the volatility up increases your chances of pulling ‘Epic’, ‘Legendary’, and ‘Grail’ cards, but it also massively boosts the likelihood of the lowest-value pulls, while reducing your chances of landing something in the middle. Just like slots, it’s a trade-off between lots of smaller wins or the possibility of something rare but huge.
Once you’ve decided on your pack type and volatility level, you can pick the exact pack you want from the shelf and start ripping – this is the exciting part!
You open the pack by literally swiping across your phone screen, and then the card itself is revealed with some fanfare! Rather than finding multiple cards within the same pack, each opening leads to just one card. While this isn’t completely true to real life, it does keep things manageable and under control.
Just like with casino games, examine the prices and odds carefully before spending – the prices can get eye-wateringly high here pretty fast.
You’ll find both English and Japanese Pokémon cards, and they come from many of the various sets released over the years. That means you could find anything from a Base Set Charizard or Moonbreon, to one of the newer Scarlet & Violet chase cards, through to far more common pulls worth just a few cents.
Whether to Store, Sell or Ship?
The choice of whether to store the card in the vault, sell it straight back at market value, or ship to your address in real life depends on your strategy.
Some players will be treating this like a game where you can earn back more (or less) than you wager, while some players will be hunting for genuine Pokémon cards – it all depends on your eventual goal. If you can’t make up your mind straight away, you should store the card in your vault and you can come back to it at a later date.

Whether Crown Rips becomes a permanent part of Crown Coins or simply rides the current trading card boom remains to be seen, but it’s certainly one of the most interesting things we’ve seen from a sweepstakes casino this year.
It takes the rip-and-ship trend, combines it with the unboxing genre, and gives it a final casino-style twist, and all in all it feels surprisingly polished. If you’ve received an invite, we’d definitely recommend giving it a go!
