Stake.us has finally added fiat payments and redemptions to its platform in a widespread manner, creating an inclusive experience for players who prefer not to use cryptocurrencies.
Since its launch in 2022, Stake.us has been primarily crypto-only. Over a year ago, we reported that the site introduced a card payment option in the UI, initially available to select groups of players.
Fortunately, the rollout now appears to be complete for the vast majority of users, allowing credit and debit card purchases (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover) for coin bundles. On the other end, users can now request redemptions from Stake Cash into USD, directly into their bank accounts.
How Breeze Powers Fiat Payments on Stake.us
The interface used for fiat transactions is called Breeze, a PCI-compliant payment processor designed to handle credit and debit card transactions securely. Breeze acts as a bridge between Stake.us and players’ card networks, allowing GC purchases and SC redemptions in fiat currency without the platform needing to manage card data themselves.
It’s also worth noting this paragraph from the current Stake.us Terms & Conditions:
c) If you purchase Gold Coins using FIAT, then you must redeem Stake Cash using FIAT. If you purchase Gold Coins using cryptocurrency, then you must redeem Stake Cash in cryptocurrency. Only once your Stake Cash reaches a zero balance, you may then elect your preferred currency (FIAT or cryptocurrency) for future purchases of Gold Coins or redemptions of Stake Cash. For the avoidance of any doubt, if you have any Stake Cash in your wallet, then you cannot switch between FIAT and cryptocurrency for the purchase of Gold Coins or redemption of Stake Cash.
To summarize, you can only redeem into the currency you bought your coins with, although this choice can be reset once your balance returns to zero.
Stake.us does not support traditional bank transfers just yet, so redemptions are processed via the card used for deposits. This system delivers funds directly to the linked bank account in USD, converting the Stake Cash you’ve gained on the platform and played through three times (as long as your redemption request is at least 40 SC).
Online reports from players suggest that redemptions can take anywhere from two hours to a couple of days, but even the upper limit is relatively speedy compared to competitors.
Before now, some users have reported converting their cryptocurrency winnings off-platform via PayPal or other exchanges to access fiat, but this requires multiple steps outside Stake.us and is not officially supported by the platform.
The new fiat system is a massively welcome change and will make things much simpler and easier for most users.
