Golden Dragon fits into KA Gaming’s growing collection of fish shooters and arcade-style games like Zodiac Hunting, Legend of Monkey, and Air Combat 1942. For players used to traditional slots, the fish shooter format introduces a refreshing skill-based gameplay, though it still incorporates chance, particularly in target behavior. So, it’s still primarily a game of luck, but unlike slots, there’s a dose of skill involved.

The design is colorful and energetic, with a background that looks like a hybrid between an underwater palace and a battlefield, especially when there’s more than one player shooting fish on the same screen. Fish and other sea creatures swim across the screen in waves, so you need to aim and shoot.

The gameplay is all about shooting fish and hoping you’ll kill it before it swims away. Each kill nets you a payout based on the paytable, with larger fish bringing in higher multipliers. The Golden Dragon appears as a high-value boss creature that wins you 300x the bet size if you manage to take it down.

Golden Dragon is a multiplayer game, where up to 4 randomly chosen players can play on the same screen. So, if all 4 players are shooting the same fish, the player who kills it gets the payout. In my experience, the sweet spot is 1 to 3 players, because with 4 players, the game feels very chaotic.

The game has a 96% return to player (RTP) rate and medium volatility, meaning that while you can expect fairly frequent wins, the size of the payouts can vary depending on your aim and choice of targets. The game accepts bets ranging from 0.01 to 10 per shot, but be careful, because if you set the cannon on ‘Auto’ or you hold the left mouse button, the bullets shoot very quickly.

Golden Dragon Fish Game Information

Since Golden Dragon is a fish shooter game, it doesn’t have a traditional slot game structure. There are no reels, rows, or paylines. Instead, the entire screen is the game area where various sea creatures swim around. Your cannon is set on one of the player positions, and your task is to set the bet size (which changes your cannon and bullet color), aim, and shoot these targets.

There are three rooms to choose from before you start playing:

• Bronze: 0.01 – 0.10 coin bets
• Silver: 10 – 1 coin bets
• Gold: 1 – 10 coin bets

The bigger the coin size, the bigger your cannon and your bullets. You shoot by clicking (desktop) or tapping (mobile). There are just two options: Lock/Unlock and Auto shoot.

Lock: Click a fish to lock onto it. The cannon stays locked until you kill it or it disappears.

Auto Shoot: Fires bullets continuously until you stop it or run out of coins. Even if there are no fish, bullets will bounce off the walls until they hit a target.

Common smaller fish carry smaller multipliers, while bigger fish or boss creatures like the Siren or the Golden Dragon offer much higher rewards. The two special creatures are the Freeze Bomb, which freezes all creatures for a few seconds, and the Crystal Win.

You need to aim and time your shooting because it directly influences your success. For example, if you see a Freeze Bomb, you can shoot it first, and then, when all the other fish are frozen, choose which fish to take down.

On the left part of the screen, there’s also an options tab which shows valuable statistics like all your previous kills, how many bullets you used to kill the particular fish, and the prize you won by destroying it.

30-Minute Fish Shooting Test at Golden Dragon

I started my 30-minute gameplay test with 100k coins in my bankroll. I chose the golden room and set the bet at 1 coin per bullet. At first, I was careful with my bullets and was only using the Lock function to lock my aim at a fish I wanted to take down, so I managed to make a profit of 200.

Boss creatures were rare, and although I tried shooting the Golden Dragon a few times, I had no luck, and I ended up losing 1200 in total. So, I decided to go all or nothing and set the bet to 10 coins per bullet. Be aware that this is a very volatile strategy, and you can lose a lot of coins very quickly if you’re not lucky or don’t play strategically.

Since we were 3 players on the same screen, my strategy was the following: Whenever a Freeze Bomb appeared on the screen, I would wait for the other players to take it down so the screen would freeze for 15 seconds, and I have the chance to take down the fish I wanted without risking it to swim away.

My plan worked, and I took home my first Siren, winning 2,000 coins. I continued playing with 10 per bullet, and I shot down another siren. I had over 3,500 coins in profit at this point when a 4th player joined the game.

Admittedly, the game was almost unplayable for me at this point, as it all felt very chaotic, and all you could see were bullets bouncing off the walls.

But, I kept my cool and decided to make the most out of this situation. So, while others were shooting the fish, I noticed there were 4 crystals on the screen. I locked my aim at one and shot it down, netting me 800 coins.

I had the worst luck shooting down the Golden Dragon, and at times, I spent over 3000 coins trying to take one down, but with no luck. So, I decided not to chase the biggest prize, but go for the second biggest one – the Siren. Luckily, I killed three Sirens within a few minutes, so I completed my 30-minute test with exactly 7,399 coins in profit. Not too bad.
