MyPrize.us Casino Launches MyPrize Packs in 49 States

Sweepstakes casino MyPrize.us has introduced Packs, an online rip-and-ship game that’s very similar to Crown Coins’ Crown Rips, also launched recently.

These games sit alongside the usual casino-style games and allow players to open digital packs containing Pokémon or sports cards. Then players can choose to have the cards shipped to them in real life or sell them back to the platform.

The gameplay reminds me of some instant win games at casinos, but the added dimension of IRL cards makes this something special. In fact, the concept seems to be the start of a new craze at sweeps casinos, and, in the case of MyPrize.us’ Packs, the game allows play with Sweeps Cash (SC) or real money in states where the casino doesn’t usually operate.

Essentially, this opens up play for those in jurisdictions where dual-currency games have been restricted (like California and New York). In fact, residents in every state except Washington can access Packs one way or another, offering something of an advantage over Crown Coins‘ version.

It’s also worth mentioning Modo Boxes here, which arrived earlier this year and has a feel similar to unboxing sites like RillaBox and Cases.gg. Rather than focusing on trading cards, Modo Boxes can contain everything from tech products and trips to Pokémon cards and other real-world items. Again, it uses a separate Box Ticket currency, allowing Modo.us to offer the product in states where its sweeps casino isn’t available.

It seems that, as state restrictions on the space continue to expand, these types of unboxing and rip-and-ship games could offer brands a way to provide alternatives outside of their usual dual-currency model.

How Does MyPrize.us’ Packs Work?

If you’re familiar with Crown Rips, Packs works in a very similar way, to the point I’d wager both are built on the same software. However, there are some tweaks and differences – let’s go over the whole flow now.

Log in to MyPrize.us, or use our links to sign up and get a 1,000 GC + up to 1.3 SC no deposit bonus. Then find the ‘Packs’ link in the main navbar.

Now it’s time to select which type of card pack you want to open from:

• Pokémon
• Multi-sport
• Basketball
• Baseball
• Football

Within the card types are different tiers of value too. For example, in the Pokémon packs, you can choose from:

Once you’ve selected a pack, there’s one last thing you can change: the odds, AKA the volatility. These come in 3 levels:

• Normal
• High
• Max

Normal offers a pretty good spread of chance across all 6 card values, while Max ups the likelihood of landing a Grail card, while also scooping out any of the mid-range options and boosting the chance of a Common card. Basically, if you have an appetite for risk, choose High or even Max. Otherwise, stick to Normal.

Once the card is revealed, you have two choices:

• Accept buyback for the card’s value, with the total returning to your balance
• Redeem the card to have it shipped to you in real life (usually with a handling fee of 10 SC)

Unlike on Crown Rips, there’s no third option to store the card in the Vault – in fact, this is the major downside compared to Crown Coins’ game where you can store a card in your Vault for 7 days while you decide what to do.

On Packs, if you don’t ship or sell a card within 3 hours of opening it, the card is automatically sold back to MyPrize and its value is added to your balance. So be sure to request shipping within that window if you want to keep the physical card.

If any of this sounds complicated, it’s really not! The Packs UI feels intuitive and makes it easy to understand what’s happening at every step of the way.

Which is Better – MyPrize Packs or Crown Rips?

Both games from MyPrize.us and Crown Coins allow you to do basically the same thing: rip open packs of Pokémon or sports cards and either sell them back or ship them out IRL. The main differences are:

• As mentioned above, Crown Rips has a Vault feature where you can store cards while you decide what to do with them. Packs doesn’t have this, and cards will be automatically sold back within 3 hours, rather than 7 days.
• Crown Rips has 10 tiers of Pokémon card pack, allowing for higher value cards, along with higher levels of risk.
• Packs works in SC where the MyPrize sweeps casino is available, or in USD for all the remaining states (except Washington). Crown Rips works in USD for all eligible states, but the list of states isn’t as long as for Packs.
• I prefer the Packs interface. While Crown Rips looks modern and slick, Packs looks colorful and inviting, and it also clearly shows you cards that have just been pulled by other users plus the big potential hits.
• Packs integrates with MyPrize’s Play Together feature, allowing players in legal sweepstakes states to play along with creators as they open packs live. That’s potentially one of the more interesting differences.

Overall, I prefer Packs to Crown Rips. The interface is more appealing, it’s available in more states, and the Play Together integration gives it an extra social element. The lack of a Vault is the biggest downside however, with only 3 hours to decide whether to ship or sell a card compared to Crown Rips’ 7 days.

Still, Packs is my pick of the two and looks like one of the more interesting new additions to the sweeps casino space, sitting alongside the usual slots, table games, and instant win games that are already popular.

It’ll be interesting to see whether other sweepstakes casinos follow suit with this concept, but with Packs, Crown Rips, and Modo Boxes all now available, players already have 3 excellent options for rip-and-ship/unboxing-style gameplay.

Just remember to play with caution, as some of the higher value packs in each game can burn through your balance very quickly.
