Lucra Sports is a social platform that allows users to place wagers against friends or other app users on specific outcomes during sporting events. I’ve seen this app described as a peer-to-peer social betting platform, and I think that’s a fitting description.

All wagers are between app users, meaning there is no “house” and therefore, no vig. All wager terms are set by users.

The platform was launched in 2021 by Lucra Sports Inc, which itself was founded in 2019 and is based in New York.

The thing about Lucra is that you are not just limited to sports leagues. You can also place wagers on activities you enjoy with your friends.

For example, you can set stakes for a basketball contest you organize and adjust the stakes via the app. Or it can be a game of chess or Call Of Duty – you name it.

Legal States

The Lucra Sports professional sports product is available in over 30 states in the US. The excluded states include Arizona, Arkansas, Connecticut, Colorado, Iowa, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Montana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Nevada, Virginia, Vermont, and Washington.

The Lucra SDK is available in 44 states, while the company’s recreational games product is available in 42 states. In its FAQ, the company points out it is exploring expansion opportunities outside the US. Age restrictions depend on where you are based, ranging between 18 and 21 years old.

How Lucra Sports Works

Lucra Sports is a social platform with peer-to-peer wagering. It is not a traditional sports betting site and offers wagers between users on specific outcomes during actual sports matches or local games and contests that users organize on their own.

Lucra Sports users can create or join contests in two categories: one is actual sports matches on major leagues like the NFL or the NBA, and the second one is called “Games You Play”, where users fully set the terms in categories like Bar Games, Video Games, Board Games, and more.

The platform works on real money, meaning USD, or via Lucra Bucks, which is an in-app currency similar to free-play coins at sweepstakes sportsbooks. There is no welcome bonus at the moment, but referring friends will net you $10 per qualifying referral.

Lucra Sports is not exactly stacked with bonuses and while I noticed they offered promos for newcomers in the past, I did not receive a no deposit bonus when testing the app for SweepsKings.

No daily free credits here either but Lucra Sports does grant $10 in in-app cash for every qualifying referral you bring to the platform.

There is also a fun rewards program called The Lucra Clubhouse where placing wagers nets you points that you can use to climb the ladder and reach five tiers. The higher you climb, the better the perks, including in-app cash and money for Lucra apparel.

Bonuses Review

The fact that the Lucra Sports app has no dedicated page for bonuses made it clear that promos are not exactly the platform’s strongest side.

Again, I did not receive a no deposit bonus upon signing up, and the official T&Cs only mention that Lucra Bucks can be awarded, but no mention of concrete deals.

Still, the rewards program is fun, and the referral program is very straightforward. You send your unique referral link to your friend, they sign up for the app, and you will receive $10 in in-app cash after your friend deposits $10 or more.

As for The Lucra Clubhouse, which is the Lucra Sports rewards program, you receive 5 Points for every referral and 1 Point for every $20 played. The more points, the higher your status. This is how it works.

Lucra Sports has two major betting categories: Sports You Watch and Games You Play. The sports section includes actual major sports, while the Games section is for setting wagers for your own contests like a card game you guys play on Sunday night or something like that.

The markets in the Sports section include the NFL, NBA, NHL, PGA, NCAAB, Tennis, and Soccer.

The way it works is that you create the so-called Contests or accept wagers for Contests created by other Lucra Sports users.

Lucra Sports operates as an app only, and you need to register an account from one of the eligible states in the US to access the lobby. Note that in some states, you can’t access the Sports section but you can use the Games markets.

Lucra Sports offers you to deposit USD on the platform or use Lucra Bucks, an in-house currency that the app can award to players as part of its promos.

The funds are deposited straight to the platform, and you can use your bank account, and all major credit and debit cards except Mastercard, and also Apple Pay.

As per the official FAQ, PayPal and Venmo are not available at the moment but are “coming soon.”

I need to point out that Lucra Sports is a mobile-only social betting platform. But the good news is that it’s readily available both through the App Store for Apple users and the Google Play Store for the Android crowd.

The app itself is smooth on both platforms. It loads nicely and the navigation is easy. Most of the features you need are intuitively placed on the screen or easy to access through the main menu.

While I understand how hardcore sports bettors can’t get over limitations regarding bonuses and market variety, the whole team at SweepsKings is confident that the socially-oriented wagering fans will love this one.

I would like to see more sports added, I look forward to the addition of PayPal and Venmo, I want to see a live chat for customer support, and I certainly want to see the minor bugs I encountered fixed.
