Another site in the alternative gaming space is set to close down in 2026, with advance deposit wagering platform GiddyUp having sent out an email about its “temporary wind-down”.
We’re not sure what “temporary” means exactly, but it does seem clear that GiddyUp’s current operation is coming to an end. And there are other dates to bear in mind for players.
GiddyUp Shutdown Email
This is from the email sent out to SweepsKings and other players yesterday:
Hello,
This is a reminder that credit purchases will be disabled on October 15 as part of GiddyUp’s temporary wind-down.
Gameplay will remain available until October 19, and cash withdrawals will remain available until November 2.
If you have any questions or need help with your account, please reach out through the support widget.
The GiddyUp Team
So players have around a week to make any more purchases, then around 11 days to enjoy any more gameplay. However, the most important date is November 2, at which point it seems cash withdrawals will be shut off.
Sometimes a brand will point out that all requests received before a deadline will be honored, even if they complete after the deadline, but we haven’t been given that assurance here.
For that reason, we suggest players submit any withdrawal requests to GiddyUp as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
What Is GiddyUp?
GiddyUp launched in March this year as an advance-deposit wagering site, sometimes called parimutuel-powered gaming.
On the surface, things can look like a normal online casino with access to video slots and instant games, but under the hood these sites use the results of real-time horse races rather than the standard random number generator (RNG) system.
It sounds strange, but there’s a reason for the unusual setup.
GiddyUp’s games are built around real horse racing wagers, so the company can offer real-money gaming through states’ existing pari-mutuel frameworks. This is rather than relying on the dual-currency model used by many sweepstakes casinos, or standard real-money iGaming, which is limited to only a handful of states.
This allowed GiddyUp to offer its product in Alabama, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Nebraska, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.
It’s an ingenious idea, and it’s also used by Horseplay (running since 2012 as b spot) and Jokio (running since this year).
GiddyUp Players Should Take Action
Any GiddyUp players looking for something similar to switch to can consider the two sites mentioned above. State availability overlaps a lot with GiddyUp.
And to confirm the GiddyUp closure timeline:
- October 15: Credit purchases will be disabled
- October 19: Gameplay will be disabled
- November 2: Cash withdrawals will be disabled
As stated in the email, players should contact support agents through the support widget with any further questions.
GiddyUp operator KHK Games Inc. also owns Clubs Casino and Clubs Poker, two sweepstakes casino platforms. However, these brands seem to be unaffected by this news.
