TaoFortune, NoLimitCoins, Fortune Wheelz Raise Age Restrictions to 21+

More sweepstakes casinos are upping their age restrictions for players in 2025.

Yes, TaoFortune, NoLimitCoins, and Fortune Wheelz – all belonging to parent company, A1 Development LLC – recently raised their minimum age requirements for players from 18+ to 21+. However, A1’s two other (more popular) platforms, Funrize and FunzCity are still set at 18+.

In fact, the change hasn’t been fully implemented even across the first three sites. We can see that the footer sections for TaoFortune, NoLimitCoins, and Fortune Wheelz list 21+ as the age requirement, while the terms of service still list 18+, and the signup process still only requires players to be over 18.

There’s been no official announcement to users either. So it seems A1 is quietly and gradually rolling out the change, and given the usual consistency within multi-brand operators, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Funrize and FunzCity follow suit soon.

If you fall into the category of a player aged between 18 and 21 on any of the A1 platforms, we urge you to contact customer support to clarify your options regarding using up or redeeming any remaining currency.

A Trend Across the Industry

Back in February, Virtual Gaming Worlds (VGW), the sweepstakes casino originator, switched its three platforms (Chumba Casino, Luckyland Slots, and Global Poker) to a 21+ limit. As of now, the 21+ club also includes Stake.us, High 5, Kickr, Sweepstake.ai, and Baba. So while it’s far from the majority of the market, this cohort is gradually increasing in size.

As for why A1 is making the change now, no statement has been issued. But the logic is clear: raising age limits aligns sweepstakes casinos with traditional US online gambling sites where 21+ is the norm. It also helps avoid risks around underage play and problem gambling, two important issues for lawmakers. With increased scrutiny, the move could be seen as a preemptive, good-faith gesture.

A Response to Anti-Sweeps Laws, or Cease-and-Desists?

This year, we’ve seen multiple anti-sweepstakes bills tabled, as senators and representatives in numerous states attempt to ban the format from their jurisdiction. So far, only one such proposal has succeeded, and that was in Montana, but the scrutiny and pressure are likely to continue as the sweepstakes industry as a whole picks up steam. New players are signing up at sweeps casinos all the time, and many opponents simply want to put a stop to the format.

The Social and Promotional Games Association (SPGA), a trade body representing some of the major players in the sweepstakes sector, has called on lawmakers and regulators to work with companies via regulation rather than try to ban them outright. That said, it seems there’s still a long way to go before any common ground is found here.

Only one new bill this year attempted to create a regulated framework for sweepstakes to work within – New Jersey Assemblyman, Clinton Calabrese introduced Bill A5196 in January. However, it was soon withdrawn and replaced with a plainly anti-sweepstakes bill in A5447 in a disappointing move for the industry.

You could also argue that, more selfishly, certain brands may be trying to curry favor with specific state gaming regulators to prevent their market from shrinking further. This year, we’ve seen regulators issue cease-and-desist letters to specific brands, as was the case when the Delaware Division of Gaming Enforcement targeted VGW. In these situations, brands typically choose to withdraw from the state rather than escalate tensions with regulators, and against that backdrop, any move to reduce scrutiny seems like a smart play.

Whatever the individual reasons, each platform that switches to the 21+ standard helps elevate the legitimacy of the sweepstakes industry, making A1 Development’s move a welcome step in the right direction.
