So with nothing to lose and seemingly a whole lot to gain including real cash prizes, we decided to take a shot and see what AcornFun had in store and if they were ready to jump into the big leagues. Below, you can check out our findings.

How AcornFun Casino Works

AcornFun uses a dual-currency system. Gold Coins are their standard play currency, and are not able to be redeemed for any sort of real world prize. Meanwhile, it’s their secondary currency of Sweeps Coins which is used for promotional play, and can be redeemed for prizes once enough have been collected and any playthrough requirements have been met.

This is well worth it in my opinion. This is something worth looking out for as they can sometimes include bonus Gold Coins packages offering 100% more Sweeps Coins than you’d usually receive.

The gaming library at AcornFun is a bit of a mixed bag. 100+ games may sound like a lot — but ask any of the SweepsKings, and we’ll tell you that that number can represent as little as 10% of the library at other sweepstakes casinos. Though of course, quantity does not always equal quality. And in the quality department, AcornFun has done a good job at securing games from top developers like Betsoft, Evoplay, and BGaming.

Most games start off at 0.10 SC for promotional play. But I did see some like Rockstar: World Tour — Hold & Win offering minimum bets as low as 0.06. Additionally, I’ve got to give credit for an excellent sorting system which makes navigating through the games very easy.

Like at most sweepstakes casinos, slots make up the majority of the games. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find a decent selection of table games alongside some more casual game types. And better yet, you don’t need to register an account to try their games out — with a guest login being enough to jump right into the deep end.

Currently, if you want to purchase coins, your options are to pay via credit/debit card, or through PayPal — with any redemptions also needing to be processed via the same method you used for purchasing coins or if that’s not possible, via bank transfer.

Your total coin balances are displayed at the top of the screen. Next to which, you’ll find the “Buy” button that will take you to the AcornFun Gold Coins packages.

Once you’ve linked your account to an email, you’ll be able to click on whichever package you prefer, choose a payment method, and complete a purchase — with coins being credited to your account immediately.

Redemptions are similarly simple to understand. All Sweeps Coins must be played through at least once before you can make a redemption, and you must have a withdrawable balance of at least 100 SC. On the flipside, if you do score a big win, you’ll need to keep in mind that AcornFun will only process one redemption per day, and that each redemption is limited to the equivalent of $10,000 (10,000 SC).

To make a redemption, just head to the redeem page and click the “Redeem Real Prize” button. From here, you’ll be able to choose which account you wish to receive your cash prize to, and then after filling in the prompts, you’ll be able to submit your redemptions. I’ve found redemptions typically take about a week to perform. However, your first redemption will take a little longer as you’ll need to first complete the mandatory KYC verification check.

AcornFun is still pretty new in the sweepstakes casino world, and as such, they don’t really have a reputation. However, parent company Jupiter Studio Limited does have experience in the casino industry  — and besides a couple of negative reviews, they do appear to be legit. From our research, we can confirm that AcornFun are abiding by all of the laws regarding sweepstakes casinos and have all the up-to-date security that you would expect to find. Further, their partnerships with reputable casino game developers instills a lot of trust.

In truth, there isn’t quite as much information floating around about this casino or their parent company as I would like to see. Though with that being said, there are also no red flags. Therefore, AcornFun’s Casino legitimacy is a wait and see kind of thing.

How It Stacks Up

When it comes to the strengths of AcornFun, they’re up there with the very best sweepstakes casinos. The overall design and usability of the site, as well as the bonuses on offer are as good as you’re likely to find. However, it’s their weaknesses that really hold them back. Of course all sweepstakes casinos will have some areas where they could look to improve — but with AcornFun, these weaknesses are glaring and almost too big to ignore.

As a niche casino, experienced users may find some use for AcornFun in their arsenal. Though for newcomers looking for that all-in-one casino, I’d have to say that I recommend you look towards AcornFun alternative sites like Hello Millions and Mega Bonanza.

Our Experts Verdict

AcornFun is at a weird crossroads. When you compare them on the whole to other sweepstakes casinos, they come out looking clearly second best. Their slot games have really poor RTP levels, and their customer support is some of the worst that I think I’ve ever reviewed. But they do have their strengths. Their table and casual games are outstanding. And what’s more, their overall design and user interface is very attractive and easy to get acquainted with.

In my opinion, AcornFun needs to either double down on what makes them unique and cut out the things that don’t work, or, go for a complete revamp and start to model their site to be more in line with other top sweepstakes casinos. For now though, they’re in a weird spot. And for most users, I’d probably recommend you check out other online sweepstakes casinos in the US.
