BattleSheeps was the second Massive Studios game I played, and the first that truly amazed me. At its core, this is a simple 5-reel slot. But watch out for the fireworks because each Wild symbol may erupt and cover its entire lane, increasing its multiplier as it goes.

You’ll see a Sheep Soldier in the background, but it’s more than just an animated gimmick. The Soldier will randomly throw grenades at Wild symbols, causing the rockets to expand.

Sheep Generals are scatters; whenever 3 or more convene, they’ll hold an army council and reward you with free spins, up to 20. Their uncanny commanding abilities will also instruct Wild rockets to stay in place for as long as you have any free spins left.

Enhancers are Ante Bet options that increase the chance of triggering the bonus game. The first option increases your spin cost to 2x, but multiplies the hit rate by 4. The second option makes your wagers cost 7.5x, but if a bonus is triggered, you’ll be given “Enhanced Entry” (at least 15 spins).

Maximus Multiplus takes place in a 5×5 arena, which appears to be set in Ancient Rome. Instead of a barbaric duel to the death, the gladiators are fighting to collect wild multipliers and cash prizes.

Smiling Suns are the collectors, while gold bars represent cash prize multipliers. There are also blue orbs, also known as the win multipliers.

The “Pay Any” win mechanism perfectly captures the “anything goes” vibe of colosseum fights. Should the gladiators win the Imperator’s favor by collecting scattered Aquilla symbols, they’ll be generously rewarded with free spins.

The bonus round is the same as in BattleSheeps – wilds will simply become sticky, and you can either wait for 3 or more to appear in the base game, or use the bonus buy options to skip the wait (100x for 10 spins, 300x for 16 FS).

I didn’t know what to make of the Super Wildcat theme when I first launched it, but as soon as I noticed the cloak & dagger-style animal figures, my thoughts went to Robin Hood. Similar to Maximus Multiplus, Super Wildcat pays anywhere, as long as the symbols are in adjacent reels.

Once again, the bonus round gives you sticky wilds, but this time around, there are three different types – Tigers, Panthers, and Fatcats. The most notable feature of Super Wildcat is the bonus bar at the top of the field. On their own, symbols included in this row can’t do anything, but if they can interact with anything on the main table, all eligible symbols activate.

Arguably, Gold Mega Stepper is the most volatile and unpredictable game in Massive Studios’ catalog, but it’s also the most beginner-friendly one.

There are only three types of symbols in this game: Cash Prizes, Duds, and Collectors. The blue diamond-like shapes are Duds, and they don’t serve any purpose. Yellow symbols carry prize multipliers, which you’ll need Emerald-plated Collectors for to activate them.

On any given spin, Collectors may collect the prizes and give you an instant win, or they may shift the reels 2 through 4 one step down, possibly revealing additional prizes. The paytable refers to this as the Stepper mechanic.

Even in this simple game, there are four bonus buy options. Buying the bonus essentially guarantees that you’ll hit a Collector and at least one Cash Prize symbol, after which the reels will keep descending for as long as there’s at least one prize left on the main grid. Using the pricier Bonus Buy improves the hit rate of stronger multipliers, while Ante Bet choices improve the chance of activating the Stepper mechanic.

This game has been my favorite throughout my tests, purely because its bonus round has a tremendous win potential. Before the game starts, you’ll be asked to choose your preferred volatility setting (High or Very High), but it can be changed before any spin mid-game.

This choice has another gameplay impact – it determines whose side you’re on during Dog vs. Squirrel Duels.

The main bonus feature is the Expanding Wild Reel, which triggers a duel between the animals (similar to VS Duel in Hacksaw’s Wanted Dead or a Wild). If your side wins, an additional effect comes into play. Dogs trigger extra Wilds, while Squirrels trigger Wilds with Multipliers.
