New Sweepstakes Platform Thrillaroo Teased for CA/NY Players

A new sweepstakes gaming platform called Thrillaroo appears to be preparing for launch, and here’s all we know so far (with some speculation).

Funzpoints games

Funzpoints players received an email mentioning Thrillaroo recently

SweepsKings has seen an email sent out to members of Funzpoints Casino previewing the upcoming Thrillaroo site. So for a start, we’re assuming Thrillaroo will be operated by Woopla Inc., the same company that owns Funzpoints.

Funzpoints has been going steady since 2019, but it has no sister sites, so it makes sense that Woopla might want to add another site to its portfolio.

But new sweepstakes casinos are a dime a dozen, we hear you say. Well, what makes this project especially intriguing is: the email suggested it could have a focus on players in California and New York. In fact, it was sent right after the operator announced its exit from the two states.

Thrillaroo to Target Players in California and New York?

Sweepstakes gaming in these two states was recently banned, leaving residents there with no remaining options. However, some sweeps sites have already figured out workarounds to the bans.

Modo.us has started to offer Modo Stars (derived from Gold Coin play) which can then be traded in for “rewards”, according to the updated Terms of Use. This could potentially include prizes like hotel rooms, meals, and event tickets.

Next, Card Crush is a newly-launched platform where players can earn Mystery Coins by playing an online card game, and these Mystery Coins are redeemable for cash prizes. This game is available only in California and New York for now, which shows that targeting these two states alone is enough of a market for a new platform.

Also, poker site ClubWPT Gold has its own new system in the recently banned states – players purchase ‘Hand Analysis’ credits rather than Gold Coins, and Chips (like Sweeps Coins) are included in the bundle.

These early trailblazers show it’s entirely possible to launch something purely for the CA and NY market, which seems to be Thrillaroo’s aim.

On the Trail of Thrillaroo

Further clues emerged after SweepsKings found a public casting call referencing Thrillaroo online.

The listing describes a commercial tied to the launch of a “new gaming platform built on a Win Win Guarantee,” which claims to refund losses during a player’s membership. The campaign reportedly involves filming interactions with members of the public in New York City, which would make sense if NY players were to be targeted.

According to the casting call, Thrillaroo is set to “refunds losses” during play – this cashback/rakeback angle seems to be slowly growing in popularity as a way for casinos to differentiate themselves.

So while details around Thrillaroo remain limited, the combination of emails to Funzpoints players and early marketing activity suggests a pre-launch phase has begun.

SweepsKings will continue to monitor developments around Thrillaroo and update readers when more concrete information surfaces.
