Zonko is a relatively new social casino. The sweepstakes gaming site pushes the envelope quite far in terms of adhering to the free, no purchase necessary gameplay model of social casinos.

You’re regularly inundated with opportunities to benefit from free Gold Coins and Sweeps Coins, and it’s possible to play without ever truly purchasing anything. I found the rewards for purchasing coins excellent value for money, though, so it’s worth considering doing so.

You can get your first taste of free gameplay by registering at Zonko. A modest 3,000 GC bonus (with additional coins offered through your first daily login bonus) is small compared to rival sites that I’ve seen, but Zonko makes up for that with its first purchase bonus (many are offered, the following being the best).

Make a $20 Gold Coin purchase, and you’ll receive 112,000 GC and 75 free SC, as well as a spin on one of several fortune wheels, where additional SC rewards can be snapped up. This opening wheel spin is known as the Welcome Wheel, and it’s only available for newbies.

The full bonus spans your first 8 days, with 60,000 GC and 50 SC awarded instantly, with a further 52,000 GC and 25 SC distributed over those 8 days (assuming you log in every day), known as the Power Boost, and it works like so:

Promotions are divided into two categories – those that are available for everyone, such as daily login bonuses and AMOE requests, and those that are designed for funded players who’ve purchased coin packages. The latter includes Power Boosts and weekly scratchcards. So, while it isn’t mandatory to purchase coin packs, it is definitely worth considering to unlock the other Zonko bonuses.

The list of bonuses is extensive, but here’s a quick run-through of what I found:

• Season Pass: Purchase a Season Pass (for 30 days) and log in daily to receive Prime Pass Scratch Cards with free SC rewards. You’ll receive SC on Day 1, plus bonus SC spread over the remaining 29 days.
• Winfinite Wednesday: Make use of weekly scratch cards to land GC and bonus SC for free.
• Daily Bonuses: Come back each day to unlock free GC/SC for your troubles.
• Bonus Boost: Make a $100 purchase to receive 1,000 Stars (loyalty points), or a $200 purchase to receive 2,000 Stars. Those Stars can be used in the store, which I’ll come to in a second.
• Daily Missions: Complete daily, weekly, or special-themed missions to win free GC, SC, and exclusive bonuses.
• AMOE: Follow the instructions to the letter (and request a code) to receive 3 SC per submission.
• Refer-a-Friend: Create a referral link and have a friend join you and purchase coins to receive 10 SC free.
• VIP Scheme: Zonko has a 7-tier VIP scheme. While progressing the VIP scheme, you can acquire Stars and spend those Stars in the store. You’ll also receive improved bonuses with each new step you climb.

I said Zonko was bonus-heavy. I’d also like to touch on the fact that there is a badge system, where you can complete challenges and missions to show off your achievements with badges. Mini, Major, and Grand Jackpot prizes can also drop, and many of the coin packs you purchase give you additional spins on Intense, Infinite, and other wheels to land more bonus SC for free.

Moving on to games, Zonko has a limited library compared to the truly big social casinos out there. Its mix of games spans slots, fishing games, and scratch cards, but, frustratingly, there isn’t a clear way to filter them.

Most of its providers are mid-level developers, with a library of around 525 games in all for you to choose from. All games are playable in GC or SC mode, with Zonko offering you an appropriate service for however you like to play.

Personally, I would like to see a few more games, and I’d definitely want a better filter system, so I can easily separate fish and scratch card releases from slots, especially since the latter make up the overwhelming majority of Zonko’s library.

Zonko is strict about making sure everything is above board before you do anything substantial. Therefore, you’ll need to complete your account profile, not only before you attempt to process a redemption, but before you can even purchase Gold Coin packages.

There are enough payment providers in play to give you options at Zonko, and I found that purchases were processed instantly and without added fees. Plenty of the coin packages offer considerable value when compared to others. I encourage you to take your time and browse them carefully if you do decide to buy coins.

You won’t have as many options when it comes to redemptions. Firstly, the minimum redemption limit is 100 SC, and I find that a little steep. On the plus side, bonus SC playthrough rates are just 1x. I didn’t encounter any fees, either.

You can only make one redemption request every 48 hours, and processing redemptions can take up to 10 days. That’s assuming you’ve already been through the KYC step and subject to a maximum 3-day pending period. Redemptions worth over $2,000 can be subject to additional clearance times, and entrants in Florida will have prizes capped at $5,000, as usual.

Zonko looks legit, and its operating company is based in Wilmington, Delaware, as far as we can tell. The fact that it utilizes CogniPlay software like other reliable US social casinos, and that it is a new site from an experienced operator are all positive signs.
