With the TaDa portfolio now numbering 200+ titles across genre, theme and feature to promote; the No.1 position for fish-shooting games to maintain; and new partnership with multiple operators, including BetMGM in Pennsylvania and Michigan, to launch, Wesley Yang, COO – U.S. Markets, TaDa Gaming, is a busy man. So, we were delighted that he was able to sit down with us and share insights on what U.S. sweepstakes players mean for TaDa and what’s coming next from the innovative provider.
You’ve recently made exciting progress in the U.S. sweepstakes market. What’s the most surprising thing you’ve learned about American players so far?
At TaDa, it’s all about data driven decisions, so we make sure we are launching the content players want – and usually before they know they want it. With American players, we knew they valued community and social interaction, even in games that are traditionally seen as solo experiences like sweepstakes; but even we were surprised at how much U.S. players gravitate toward gaming experiences that offer a sense of belonging.
American players are very active on social media, give regular and in-depth feedback and like this to be acknowledged. Our social feeds get very busy!
For many of our other markets, key drivers for engagement are win potential or features such as cascading reels and the lock & respin bonus. For American sweepstakes’ players, it is the emotional connection to a brand that creates loyalty.
Delivering instant recognition through design or theme and shared experiences is critical: this is why our fish-shooting titles with their multi-player capability and our easily recognizable slot series like TriLuck™ are hits.
That’s so interesting. In terms of gameplay preferences then, are U.S. players drawn more toward traditional slots, or is the action-packed fish-shooting genre the main event?
Currently slots, especially those with Vegas aesthetics, recognizable symbols and straightforward gameplay, are still the go-to game for many U.S. players.
Recognition, comfort and a little nostalgia for an authentic casino experience are key. Slots like our TriLuck™ branded 3 Coin Treasures 2 really lean into recognizable casino, meaning we are seeing some strong numbers already.
However, the U.S. market is hugely diverse and so the growing interest in more action-packed fish-shooting games with fast gameplay and instant rewards is influencing our development strategy.
Games like Fortune Zombie – which was designed specifically for America – or Lucky Shooter bring a level of interactivity and real-time engagement through skill-influenced gameplay that many American players are starting to embrace.
We are seeing younger demographics, those new to sweepstakes and especially those coming from mobile video gaming or with arcade fish-table knowledge playing our shooting games. So, while slots are solid performers, our shoot and win portfolio is gaining wider traction.
We also have raised awareness through social media campaigns, easy access to free to play tournament sites like our research partner, freeslotmatch.com, and through highlighting the personal challenges the games offer with upskilling and strategic decision making.
So, if fish-shooting games offer skill-based and real-time action rather than pure luck, how do you see this influencing player engagement compared to conventional slot games?
Statistics show that about 80% of casino games played are slots: but fish-shooting games have definitely shaken up the whole iGaming industry – for operators and players alike – and we are very proud to be leading this charge.
Our research had flagged both regular and churned players commenting on the same lack of skill or challenge in many game releases: so offering games with skill-influenced play, plus layers and challenges through a dynamic and interactive experience with social opportunities, impacted all player demographics for significantly enhanced engagement and retention.
Our data show that players from all levels will experiment with shooting games without creating spend migration from slots, so basically they will play both genres at the casinos offering this option. Fish-shooting games are not competing with slots but enhancing the overall gaming experience by delivering a new way to play and win.
Releasing a targeted game like Fortune Zombie with its avatar led tutorial, multiple new features, innovation in weapons and power-ups, fantastical designs and different ways to win has seen players in the U.S. deliver significant numbers, with average bet volumes in excess of 1,000 Sweeps Coins and a staggering 3,000+ average rounds per player per session.
For comparison, in other markets, the top fishing-shooting release currently sees an average 1,300 rounds per player, per session, making this instant acceptance by U.S. players unprecedented, even for TaDa’s renowned games.
Are there any new techniques in development aimed at pushing the fish-shooting genre even further—especially for U.S. audiences?
We introduced our Real-time Dynamic Scripting system. This means when players have been extremely successful in shooting fish, the system automatically triggers an Auto Fish-Replenishment Mechanism to instantly restore fish density so there is never an empty screen.
This also ensures a consistently engaging shooting experience and prevents screen downtime, plus improved visual quality and realism in collision effects.
Bullet speed is extremely fast, constantly pushing the limits of server performance – not only in visual rendering but also in betting data logging; so we’ve continuously optimized both hardware and software infrastructure to handle high bullet volumes per unit time without performance degradation.
We also use AI simulation of player behavior and hit models to optimize multiplier design and RTP verification. This means we are able to get faster results, reducing the overall development timeline to four/six months, which basically means more fantastic games delivered in shorter timeframes.
Looking ahead, what titles are you most excited to roll out for the U.S. market in the coming months?
As always, we have a number of new concepts – including more fish-shooting for the new ‘Zombie Universe’. This will see sequel, Fortune Zombie 2 launched in August.
At G2E, Las Vegas, 6-9 October, this will be our headline title at Stand 5430 in the Experience Zone. As always, everyone is very welcome to come and play and find out more.
We also have a fantastic new addition to our shooting games specifically for the U.S. market with Boar Rush. This is still early stages but again, players will appreciate the combination of recognition and novelty to give experiential gaming.
With TriLuck™, we recently released 3 Coin Treasures 2. This will be followed by 3 Pot Buffalo in August. With its prairie and cowboy design and symbols, plus the superb buffalo stampede feature, players will really engage with this new title.
With every game tailored to different themes and volatility profiles for each target market, we know this gives our sweepstakes’ partners campaign-friendly, scalable offerings that quickly turn players into loyal customers – and that’s what our new games will continue to deliver.
